I have recently experienced 5 errors in a short period of time. On each error, the screen saver seems to have been the trigger. Does anyone know what this is? How can I avoid these types of errors in future?

Might want to make sure your graphics card driver is current (see this thread). Also your version of DirectX (read this).

exit code -1 (0xffffffff)

exit code -1 (0xffffffff) looks to be more of a problem where the Einstein application isn't responding to the screen saver. Either on startup or on exit of the screen saver.

Do you have any corresponding error messages from BOINC? Check your stderrdae.txt and stdoutdae.txt files in the BOINC directory.
