Can't connect old machine

I am having trouble trying to install Einstein on a Core Duo Mac running OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger). The strange thing is that I have another machine with a nearly identical setup that has been running just fine for years and, in addition, the one I am trying to install on used to run Einstein just fine. I had it running another project until recently and when I attempted to reactivate the Einstein project (which I had set for "No new tasks"), it refused.

Both machines are running BOINCManager 6.10.56, which I realize is an older version but it works fine on one machine. I tried an uninstall and reinstall on the problematic machine but I keep getting the message "Failed to attach to project" "An error has occurred…" when trying to attach to Einstein at the address "einstein.phys.uwm.edu" as shown in the selector for choosing a project. (It works fine for trying to attach to SETI). When I check the Messages section of BOINCManager, I see the following:

Sat Oct  8 11:31:00 2016 Fetching configuration file from http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/get_project_config.php

Sat Oct  8 11:31:16 2016 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site

Sat Oct  8 11:31:17 2016 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

This is a relatively low priority problem for me and I'm sure that better performing machines also rate more attention. Nevertheless, it has me baffled and if someone could point me in the right direction without undue trouble on your part, I would appreciate it.

I would try with a newer

I would try with a newer Boinc version. It might have something to do with Einstein@home converting to use SSL only connections to the project.

I'm a little worried that

I'm a little worried that using too new a version might not work with such an old version of OS X, but then I really have nothing to lose by giving it a try. Is there any particular Boinc version that would have the greatest chance of success or should I just sort of work my way up until I either find one that works or I run out of versions?

OK. I tried 6.12.35 and that

OK. I tried 6.12.35 and that didn't work so I went up to the last possible version that would work with Tiger on a 32-bit machine (version 7.2.42) and that one appears to be working. At least I was able to access the site and download work units. I will have to wait to see if they complete properly. Thanks for your help.
