Not overclocked. I run the default speed on all my computers.

Yes, I had to re-attach to both URLs.

It appears to be a problem only with the Einstein.

Predictor has run flawlessly since I built this machine.

Einstein to my knowledge, has not run the first WU sucessfully.

Thanks.

Paul, here's a new error

Paul, here's a new error message for you:

There are no child processes to wait for. (0x80) - exit code 128 (0x80)

j2satx, I'd post in the Problems and Bug Reports section of the forum. Bruce or someone else in the know should pick up on this sooner or later and provide a response.

I added it, but of course have no idea why this is occurring so have no suggestions ... but it is in the FAQ for whatever good that does ...

It could also be an hardware

It could also be an hardware problem. Maybe memory, or even the cpu. Einstein just happens to call the instructions in such a manner that Einstein fails. If it were me, I would swap the memory sticks around or even try running with just one stick. If that doesn't solve the problem, I would install winXP just to see if you still have the problem.

I would try out the newer

I would try out the newer versions just to see if they work.
Especially when it still is a "playtoy". :)
(I personally like the development versions better than 4.25)

I wonder if the "child process" is the application itself?
Is it even running?

Maybe something corrupted Win2000 on your first WU.
Well, I'm out of options now.. :)
Good luck!

I tried 4.40.....it did not

I tried 4.40.....it did not work for Einstein and I could not get any WUs for Predictor.

At least 4.40 isn't as ugly as 4.25, but still has all the wasted real estate on the left side. The drop down menus were much better.

I tried 4.25.....it did not work for Einstein and I could not get any WUs for Predictor.

I went back to 4.19.....it still does not work for Einstein, so I'll just detach from Einstein and not run it on the Athlon64. Predictor and Seti both run on it.

I think 4.19 is by far the nicest interface and when I'm forced to go to one of the new ones with all the wasted real estate, I'll take my marbles and go to projects that don't use the BOINC interface.

Thanks for the help in trying to get Einstein working on this computer.
