Astronomers spot first ever dark galaxy

I particularly like the "artist's impression of galaxy" they appended to the article.

I wonder if the artist is

I wonder if the artist is planning limted edition prints?
Of course I'd have to pay using money printed from dark matter :)

LMAO! I have to not follow these links when I'm drinking. I just cleaned my nose out with Pespi! I can't believe they actually published that picture. It's something that I would have expected from The Onion.

I liked the picture here at Space.com[/url]. Not an artist's representation but a dandy argument for dark galaxies.

I have seen hyper-links inside posts thought but the user's won't say how they did it (actually the last one I asked was a forum moderator, nice huh?) It's prolly something similiar to the way the signature graphics show up, but instead of img, it uses url or something (I haven't played with it here, yet). Actually, I'm already getting tired of searching thru my past posts (because they wouldn't spring for activating all the features available in these php forum applications) [see my profile for some] so I'm not sure how much longer I'll be messing with this forum anyway. Everything seems to fall on deaf ears.

I love your Adams quote though, he was definitely ahead of his time.

There is, just not for that long URLs ;-)

Try tinyurl.com, it will fit then.

And it won't screw the forum with such long texts ;-)

ah, no wonder I saw that link on my Spider scan last night, thx

EDIT TINYURL TEST: http://tinyurl.com/62qp8

okay, call me stupid, I can't get it to work

I paste a URL into the box on their site and it says it is automatically saved to the clipboard where I can then paste it into my forum post etc. but when I do, it doesn't show up as a link. What am I doing wrong? TIA.

Billy, Did you wrap it with

Billy,
Did you wrap it with html? If you just paste it in directly, it's just text. You have to surround it with html.

Don't give up on the forum (or the project) just yet. You have to remember that E@H is brand new and some of these folks have invested untold hours and money into getting to this point. They're WAY busy trying to make this the best possible try to do high quality science. These guys are betting their reputations, future earnings, and, for some, tenure on getting this right. For me and you, this is a diversion. For them, it's an all-encompasing near-obsession (and I don't say that in a bad way). Give them time to iron out the ...uh..um...waves.

And, thanks, Saenger.
