As a result Seti now has a 500Mbit connection to the outside world and if a server decides to fall over, dedicated personnel is on site 24/7 to reset it.

I think a lot of that database problem was because the Hurricane link was almost alway so over utilised that scheduler contacts took too long, causing Wu's to become Ghosts, then getting resent on the next few contacts (adding to the database load),
now they are on a faster link that is only partly utilised, and scheduler contacts go through without problem they should have less of a database problem, when they relax the limits is anyone's guess.

Thanks! The problem for me is all the Suns out there, Car Sagan said "there are more Suns in the sky then there are grains of sand on every beach on the Earth!" A Sun means the possibility of planets circling it, Carl Sagan did not say, nor mean PLANETS, he said and meant SUNS!!! If only 1% of the Suns have planets that is STILL one heck of a lot of Worlds out there that can hold life. If ONLY 1% of those Worlds hold life, that is STILL one heck of lot!!! Pick your favorite beach and start picking up sand, or just sit there and think how MUCH sand there is on it, then multiply that by ALL the beaches on the Earth!!!!
For those that believe in a God why would he make all those twinkly things out there that you and I will NEVER get to if they weren't important? Just to make us think, that seems kind of silly seeing as how WE will NEVER get there!! Why didn't he just paint them in place and let them be? Kind of like the ceiling paint one can by, it has glass in it so it 'sparkles' at night.
I BELIEVE in the idea of Seti, to ME it is silly to believe there is nothing else out there. I crunched for Seti for a LONG TIME, the reasons I stopped had nothing to do with the idea of it!! They are also past history and don't need to be discussed here, there are too many other projects in the sea.

Question: What is the short name of the application Binary Radio Pular Search (Arecibo)that is needed for the app_colnfig.xml file? BRPS perhaps? Or, put another way, here can I find its short name?

The short name is: einsteinbinary_BRP4
You can determine that names looking in the event log, when a task starts it says something like: "starting xxxx using einsteinbinary_BRP4 version zzzz".
Ok so I have excluded the BRP4 app from one of my GPUs, and it does not run the Arecibo sub project, however it still runs the Persius Arm Survey subproject. What is the short name for this (it uses the same app)?

Try opening Boinc Manager and then the event log witch can be found under "Advanced" -> "Event log" or Ctrl+Shift+E on the keyboard.
In the log messages you are looking for when a new task of the one your after starts up or is restarted, it looks kinda like this:
28/05/2013 20:12:20 | Einstein@Home | Starting task PA0052_02361_27_2 using einsteinbinary_BRP5 version 133 (BRP4cuda32nv301) in slot 9
The bold part is the app name you're looking for, so in the app_config.xml use:
