GW tasks get the same credits

GW tasks get the same credits (1000) both on CPUs and GPUs. Gamma ray tasks get 693 credits on CPU and  3465 on GPU. Yet a gamma ray  task on CPU takes more time than a GW task. No wonder that people are using as many GPUs as they can.

The GRP GPU tasks contain 5 times more work than CPU tasks. Hence the 5 times higher credit.

A new batch of CPU O2MD1

A new batch of CPU O2MD1 tasks was released on June 07, with 800-900Hz frequencies instead of 900-1000Hz (which ran out a day or two earlier).  These new tasks are not being validated, and the server shows a validation backlog of >380k workunits.  Usually this is deliberate:  when they change something they can monitor the validation and make sure everything works before making it automatic (which I think deletes crucial files after a while to save space).

It's unusual for this check to wait 2 weeks, but I wouldn't be worried yet.

As the main bitcoin miners get dismantled new places will take some of them, others may have to put their gpu cards on the market but if they do it with some common sense, what seller  has that in mind when they want their money now, the prices may not come down soon. But if they do drop substantially it could mean those crunchers that are using gpu cards for mining themselves should be buying those things in bulk and grabbing all the Boinc Gridcoins from everyone else meaning the 2000 series and the lower level 3000 series gpu cards may become available as well for the rest of us.

As the farm based bitcoin miners get shutdown by China and other places it could also mean some people stop crunching and start bitcoin mining alone as they then stand a chance for a larger percentage of each coin. As the price drops each part earned now becomes more valuable later on if you also assume the price is going back up again. Just like a stock buy low and sell high or in the case of miners mine while the price is low and cash in when the price zooms back up again.

I have a linux machine that is not earning much credit anymore.  It seems to only have a lot of GW O2 tasks pending.

I have other machines that are still earning credit.

Does a linux machine have to wait for another linux machine to validate results?

Gee I was feeling sorry for

Gee I was feeling sorry for myself with 140 (CPU) tasks pending.  Until they start validating the results I think I'll move to another application.
