Hi folks!

Dont know where to post this so here it comes:

My computer ID = 12920275 (Computer 12920275 | Einstein@Home (einsteinathome.org)) and I have 221! pending tasks for All-Sky Gravitational Wave search on O3 v1.04 (GW-opencl-nvidia) windows_x86_64.

Is this normal?  Some tasks are from 7 august with status "Completed, waiting for validation"

-> like this one: Workunit 746558230 | Einstein@Home (einsteinathome.org)

So, for the time being I'm pausing my research until this issue is resolved...

Kind regards from Belgium!

You also have validated tasks

You also have validated tasks so I don't see an issue (but someone else might see something I am not seeing). The validation process can take a while. On a few of our systems, we have well over 1000 work units waiting. There is nothing you can specifically do to speed up that process. Just keep crunching and they will keep validating.

Hi BEO4642, Your tasks are

Hi BEO4642,

Your tasks are fine, but the Workunits require a second task of the same number by a another host to be verified; that second task is called your "wingman".  Your pending tasks are waiting for your wingman to be verified so you can get your credits.  It's likely that the number of hosts available for validating are much less than for other tasks, so waiting is part of the 'game'.

Hi GWGEORGE007 and all, I'm

Hi GWGEORGE007 and all, I'm not new to "crunching land" so I know all about "wingmans" etc.

But some tasks like this one: Workunit 746558230 | Einstein@Home (einsteinathome.org), are just sitting there" with errors and

" And no new "wingman task"...

So, what gives?

Kind regards.

Manuel.

The Gravity Wave tasks

The Gravity Wave tasks require a rather large data file for each task type that the project tries to not send out to a host unless absolutely required.  The scheduler instead reviews all the hosts attached that already have the required data file on board.  That host would be the likely candidate wingman for your yet unvalidated task.

Unfortunately, the scheduler has not yet found a host that has the data file and is in need of newly issued work.

So your host is kept waiting until this happens.  The mechanism is in place to lessen the significant data transmission budget from the project.

Only 221 tasks? Together, my two computers hit around 4500 tasks pending before coming back down over the last two weeks or so. Don't worry about it.

Now that is an answer that explains it all.

Thank you!
