LOL, I remember when a single processor, single user PC based CAD/CAM workstation cost that much, and now even the the most lowly $399 econobox would blow it away nicely on almost any benchmark suite you would care to throw at them.

Seems pretty reasonably priced in that light. ;-)

Ah ... we can all dream ehhh? I found this picture browsing a 300 node 'Beowulf cluster' called Medusa here, this is the very pretty coloured wiring of a network switch. Do I cut the red wire, or the blue?........

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

On a serious note though, do you think that they will let us install BOINC and attach to Einstein, give that this is owned by the LHC comunity.
