    hi guys
    i got boinc both the 1.9 and 2.4 version
    i have an account and key at einstein
    i launch the thing, paste url and key, nothing
    i try and parameter the proxy and socks, nothing

    the result i get is:
    07/03/2005 20:24:40|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/|Using your default project prefs
    07/03/2005 20:24:40||Insufficient work; requesting more
    07/03/2005 20:24:46||Can't resolve hostname [einstein.phys.uwm.edu/]
    07/03/2005 20:24:46|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/|Couldn't read master page for http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/: error -113
    07/03/2005 20:24:46|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/|Detaching from project - check for URL error
    07/03/2005 20:24:46|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/|Resetting project
    07/03/2005 20:24:47|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/|Detaching from project

    now, i'm behind a firewall over which i have no control whatsoever
    when i parameter the http proxy i use port 80 and the einstein url, is that what i'm supposed to do? sure i fill in the login and password i need to access the web.
    same when i parameter socks proxy.

    any idea what's wrong? do you feel the firewall might to blame?

    thanks for your answers

      just a guess:

      proxy port is rather unusual to be 80;
      it depends on the proxy and its configuration.

      Try 3128 for a squid proxy, also maybe 8080

      for the ip adress of the proxy, you could look it up in your browser.
      if there is none,
      your setup maybe a transparent proxy.
      Did you try no proxy at all?

      second guess: try to use the ip of your gateway.

      win: ipconfig, linux: ifconfig tells you that adress.

        4.19 and 4.24 both have problems with some proxies. This is SUPPOSED to be fixed in 4.25. Install 4.25, and set it up exactly the same way that your browser proxy is set up.

            deleted - noticed too late that the problem has been solved already.

              To whoever deleted the last message : could you put it back? Maybe it helps me.

              I get through the proxy (Squid with authentication) with 4.19 but 5.x refuses to connect.

              I'm using the proxy IP (which I got from the .pac file), port 8080 - both work with wget (Linux) and wget.exe (Win32) using environment variables but I have never managed to bring any cURL based DC client through it (FaD, CommunityTSC and now BOINC 5.x)

              BOINC 4.19 (Windows and Linux) and distributed.net don't have a problem with the authentication.
