14. Why and how was the data being re-analyzed?

After we initially analyzed the S3 data set, we made several improvements:

$\bullet$ Data were re-calibrated using the final data quality assessment (called the version 5 data quality flags) and instrument calibration (called the version 3 instrument calibration).
$\bullet$ More known line artifacts were removed from the data set to prevent spurious signals.
$\bullet$ Software pulsar injections were added.
$\bullet$ Segment pairs were re-grouped to maximize the number of ten-hour segments containing hardware injected signals.

The re-analysis of S3 was completed by Einstein@Home participants on August 2, 2005. The full results from that final re-analysis are now being reviewed by LSC.
